Overview
Continuing with the theme of Violence, Dante completes his Seventh Circle with The Violent Against God, Nature, and Art. Continuing with the theme of Bullshit, my Third Circle consists of those that proffered mystical notions bereft of any resemblance to reality. Whereas the previous two rounds blended half parts baloney and truth, the Third and final Round of Circle VII contains pure bullshit, untainted with any truth at all. I devote several Cantos to it, as there is much ground to cover. And the principal feature of that ground is that it is literally nothing but manure.
Dante's Third Round culminates with a Rain of Fire, and mine culminates with the Rain of Bullshit from the skies, fitting reward for two groups that were Violent Against Astronomy: Incredulous UFO buffs and Astrologers.
Dante divides his Hell in thirds: The Incontinent, The Violent, and The Fraudulent. I divide things up for The Fallacious, The Mystical, and The Religious. The walls of Dis separated the first two groups, and precipitous drop between circles VII and VIII demarcates the last two. Religion is of course an outgrowth of the same kinds of thinking that hold sway in Circle VII. Which is why I fond it fitting that the beast that transports our heroes down past the great waterfall (it is the "Age of Aquarius", you know...) is made from a hodge-podge of zodiacal creatures. The planets were long thought to be gods, after all.
